HRP Fundamentals – What It Is, What It Does

HRP is a simple, systematic method of hazard recognition that guides workers in the discovery and management of hazards in the workplace.

Description

Traditional hazard recognition focuses on picking out what’s wrong in a work environment. HRP is different. It is based on the notion that hazards are in most cases energy sources that are essential for getting work done. What matters most is recognizing hazards, understanding how they interact with work, the risks they pose to people, the environment, assets and reputation, and what is needed to effectively control them.

HRP helps you recognize the relevant energy needed to do a task and determine whether those energies have the potential to cause harm to people, the environment, assets, or a company’s reputation.  Once those hazards are discovered, then we need to work together to eliminate, control, and/or protect ourselves from those harmful energies.
